zellige (tile) + carpet = jelly jutan

Infinite colors and patterns played with natural / vegetable dyed wool + hand-woven.

The Moroccan tile called "Jelly" is overlaid with Japanese words and named "Jelly Jutan". The Sumsumu carpet is literally a wool tile that you can enjoy in combination.

The motif is the "Quatre Feuille (four-leaf)" design, which is widely seen as a design for European churches and fittings in Morocco.

The rustic and still novel designs and motifs of old-fashioned jelly are incorporated into the carpet with a unique color combination.

In each life, prepare meals and polish your home for your family. Women who move their hands for the carpet only during the time allowed in their daily lives.

Jelly jutan is woven in their "happy time".

Hisham, the project director and an important partner of Sumsum, keeps telling the weavers.

"Never weave on days when you feel sick or unwell. Weave only on days when you feel happy."

When I heard about his policy, I was deeply moved and strongly wanted to do something with this team. I felt it was the "heart" that the Marrakech souk traders were losing.

Mr. Hisham, who is based in Casablanca, drives a car, crosses the Atlas, and buys high-quality wool in the southern region where he was born and raised.

The material of the jelly jutan is 100% high-quality wool of sheep with good coat that can only be found in this area, which grows freely in the wilderness of Haute Atlas in southern Morocco.

A close friend of his hometown dyes the wool in the southern part of the country. Originally Mr. Hossein, a honey farmer. It is said that he learned and learned plant dyeing from scratch, driven by Mr. Hisham's enthusiasm for preserving and inheriting the traditions of his native Morocco.

Fortunately, there were still dyers to study in this area, which is close to Tazenakht, which is famous for its beautifully colored carpets.

Vermilion is from the root of Akane, indigo is indigo, and canary yellow is wood sardine. Pistachios are dyed twice with indigo and wood sardines.

Brown is dyed in Berber with the bark of a tree called Takbout. The colors of the trees, which do not understand Arabic names or French, make you feel the magnificent southern land.

There is a basic dyeing technique first, and then the gradation of shades is created by adjusting the temperature and time. A magical color based on a secret recipe of a magician whose formulation is not revealed only in purple.

Next is the production of weaving drawings by team designer Abdel Jalil. We ask you to faithfully create a rough design drawing by Sumsum as a detailed weaving drawing.

And Moroccan women, who are originally good at weaving with ad lib by making full use of their own imagination, will weave according to the weaving diagram.

The cross section of the thread is conspicuous at the beginning of use, but the twist of the thread becomes frayed as it is used, and the texture increases over time. As time goes by, it should become one that is hard to part with.

(If you prefer the texture of frayed threads, brushing will open the cut end of the threads and increase the luster, so please try it.)

The size is Zabouton, Tatami (Ichijo / Hanjo), Genkan, and it is a development that is conscious of the Japanese lifestyle.

<Zabouton> can be laid on the floor as a cushion, or laid on the seat of a chair or sofa.

We also accept semi-orders at any time. Since the details, I will explain by e-mail, those who wish here. Please feel free to contact us from.

May the wool tiles blend into a part of your life.
